Initial sketched ideas

I was approached by Jodie Clark to come up with a logo and branding for her work within the dance industry. We spoke at length at what she loved and design and art that inspired her.

After doing some initial sketches I moved over to coming into working with it digitally. I developed three ideas further and worked on a couple of possible colour pallets. It was interesting to find a colour pallet that could show Jodies personality that came with her brief of classic with a contemporary twist.

I met again with Jodie and we settled on a design to develop further into the final logo and a couple of colours. The main challenge was to bring the J and C together to feel like it works as a human body and also keeping the letters obvious. I worked on many variations of curvatures until it worked.

To finish it off i found a font that worked with the main logo mark to accompany it which acted as a signature for Jodie to use.

Once completed I delivered the logo in different formats and on different backgrounds along with versions in colour, black and white to be used in different applications.

'Anthony designed a logo for my freelance work in 2020. He was so accommodating and easy to work with, he really listened to my ideas and also offered up his own. I felt the collaborative process of creation allowed the final product to be really eye catching and capture the essence of my personality. I’ve received lots of positive comments on the logo design and it has really pulled my freelance identify together.'

I was approached by the BRIT school to create a complete way-finding package. The school was looking to refresh all communal areas and in turn make the school easier to navigate.

The challenge was to figure out how to make the school feel fresher and also easier to navigate. The first idea was to rename each building into a 'zone' from that they each adopted a new colour scheme which also was a different colour per floor. I went through various meetings to make sure we agreed on colours and tonal pallets for each area which also suited the style of the building due to them being from different time periods. Once this was agreed I moved onto working out where all the signs needed to go and what they needed to say. Working this carefully through with the client.

It was a long and challenging process to make sure all the information was clear and helped the staff, students and visitors find their way around.

The last stage was to create a new map in the style of a metro map which could be displayed on the site. This was a challenge and a mix between the geography of the buildings and diagrammatic map. Initially the challenge was to get the rooms squeezed into some tight areas. There was also alot of discussion and variations made for the client to get the right mix between the two styles.

At the end of the designing process I then project managed the manufacture of all signs, Install and the painting contractors to bring the whole vision of new way-finding to life.

The project used illustrator for design of maps and signs, photoshop for creating visualisations of what the finished project would look like and google suite of apps for project management and collaboration with the client.

Overall this has been a successful project which has had a positive impact on the school. This was a year long project which pushed me into areas I have not previously explored but the challenge was very rewarding. It has had a lot of positive feedback from staff, students and visitors.

Fabric layout based on social media symbols and design. Created for a show called 'Riddle' by Nocturne dance.

The design for these relied on the iconography of social media and gave them a little twist to work well as fabric designs.

I have been working with the excellent theatre designer Ryan Laight on some projects for shows he has designed.

He came to me to look at creating symbols based on social media with more of a nature influence, that could be turned into a fabric design for a show he was working on. The challenge with this was pulling from such a wide range of places and bringing it into something slightly usable as a fabric design. The challenge also came as I had to create designs based on a loose idea and semi predicting what Ryan would look for and would want to be produced. After initial ideas was presented i then set forward and created more finalised symbols that would be used in the fabric. From this we then decided on sizes of the symbols and the gaps between them before laying them out on one meter square artboards. The symbols and layouts were all created on Illustrator.

From this point I transferred over to photoshop to add background colour and texture and top textures to complete the product. I then exported these to the printers specification.

We followed a similar process again for the show 'Earth Mother'

I found these really interesting to work on and push me into a way of design im not normally used to doing and managing to produce interesting results.

Its great to see the final fabric turned into costumes and how it comes into much more life.
